Start your week with my relaxing, intimate meditation class based on classical meditation and non-dual tantric practices from the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism. We will be exploring meditations from the ancient text Vijnana Bhairava. This book is a conversation between consciousness and the experiencer of consciousness (shakti) about how best to become expanded consciousness everywhere (self-realized.). You will have a chance to pause, revitalize and explore the transformative benefits of meditating, (even if you do not believe you can quiet the mind) : ) We will explore new breath techniques and unblock hidden beliefs that keep us stuck and feeling separate. And, best of all, you will be able to take practices into your day to learn how to "play" with perception, identity and the ego so you have greater freedom and "fun" with reality.

The first part of our gathering is designed to practice different techniques based on Kashmir Shaivism, Patanjali's yoga, and other traditions, to help to dissolve more concretized identity and to experience oneself outside the restraints of the intellect.

The second part of our gathering will be designed to explore a problem someone is having to explore if we can discover a deeper truth underneath the truth. This work is precious as it frees us up from stories that don't serve us or the world.
I started to practice classic hatha yoga, based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, when I was 14 and arrived in Kashmir at age 17 to continue my practices. There I met the last in the lineage of non-dual tantric teachers from the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism, Swami Lakshmanjoo. I visited Kashmir eight times over 12 years to study classical yoga and Kashmir Shaivism during my late teens and twenties. At that time, I was quite young and couldn’t articulate why I longed to visit Swami-ji as often as I could. I just knew that I loved him… and now, many years later, I can see that his greatness was in the mastery of his mind; his unwavering kindness and his deep experience in living a life “in-between” the world of the ego mind.
Since then I have been both a social activist and a student and teacher of mediation and consciousness. I believe the next great accomplishment for mankind is the understanding of the mind and practices that remove mental limits and the concept of the "separate self". Indivisibility can be seen on the quantum level as science is exploring that reality is made up of consciousness itself. As part of the whole, as a living system, our fundamental interconnection will enable us to protect and nourish all species and nature as our very selves.
In my work, I use concepts and techniques from classical yoga, Kashmir Shaivism, and other mystic traditions along with mythology and the science of happiness and invite students to come with me on a journey to discover your fundamental ground of happiness and wholeness, which is always reliable and available.
In light of this, I would like to invite you to experience yourself as a trillion, trillion cells of vibrating potentiality expanded everywhere. You will learn practices to "soften" reality so that things flow more fluidly when challenges arise. You will have go-to practices to be less affected and calm in the middle of “storms”. Negative emotions and the negative spinning mind calms down, as does one's nervous system, and an inner space of well-being is created as one's ever-present home base and sanctuary.
I am looking forward to seeing you there,
Jody
